Presumably the fact that with these materials the Raman exciting wavelength also produces strong visible fluorescence has proved a considerable practical problem. The work now reported has been concerned primarily with methods for suppressing this fluorescence and also with the choice of the optimum exciting wavelength, because a preliminary series of measurements showed that this is also an important factor in achieving a good signal/noise ratio. During the course of this limited study sufficient results have been obtained to suggest that the resonance Raman spectra of this group of compounds offer interesting analytical possibilities.", pages = "554-555", url = "http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/sas/sas/1976/00000030/00000005/art00019", doi = "doi:10.1366/000370276774456778", keyword = "Resonance Raman spectroscopy, Fluorescence quenching agents, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons" }
