The technique of frustrated multiple internal reflectance is employed for the identification of trace amounts of organophosphorus pesticides eluted from column, paper, or thin-layer chromatograms. The high sensitivity, the ease of sample manipulation and the applicability to solid and liquid samples give the FMIR technique note-worthy advantages over transmission techniques.
