Gallium (m.pt. 29.8°C) has been analysed by spark source mass spectrometry with the use of carbon as a supporting electrode for a globule of gallium (1). However, there is some evidence that liquid samples handled in this way show selective distillation of impurities and only semi-quantitative data can be given. Therefore, self supporting gallium electrodes are more desirable.
