Minimizing Matrix Effects in Stainless Steel, Type 422, Using Oxygen in the Analytical Gap

A routine emission spectrographic procedure has been developed for the analysis of stainless steel, Type 422, using the point-to-plane technique. By directing a stream of oxygen onto the face of the sample the accuracy and reproducibility were made better than that obtained in an atmosphere of air.
