In recent years there has been increasing interest in the use of constant current d.c. arc sources in spectro-chemical analysis. A number of circuits have been reported for such sources (1-6). While some evidence exists that the use of constant current arcs results in increased analytical precision, a better justification for their use is in operational ease and the elimination of bias in current adjustment by individual technicians. It is for the second reason that a constant current source was built at Good-year Atomic Corporation a few years ago.
