Abstract:
Symmetrically opening electrode jaws on excitation stands have a distinct advantage over asymmetric holders in spectrochemical laboratories using varied techniques. Asymmetric holders do not automatically provide axial alignment of electrode pairs of different diameters. This is especially noticeable in changing from a porous cup spark using a ¼-inch over a ⅛-inch diameter electrode, to an arc burn with a ⅛-inch counterelectrode over a ¼-inch sample electrode.Document Type: Short communication
