Tract acreage estimates based solely on strip line lengths, number of plots, and field maps drawn on grid paper may be unreliable. The errors may be so large that total volume estimates are wrong even if volume per acre is estimated accurately. Methods of evaluating the potential error are described. South. J. Appl.
