Abstract:

Production rates, costs, and operating characteristics of the Berger 25Y Swing Yarder are determined for a 23.4-ac clearcut in western North Carolina. An average of 2.75 stems, containing 49.6 ft³, are harvested per cycle. Average cycle time, including cycle delays but excluding road and landing changes, is 5.51 min.
