Predicting Mortality After Thinning in Old-field Loblolly Pine Plantations
Four equations were compared for predicting mortality after thinning in old-field loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) plantations. The model selected is of the form: N2 = [N1a1 + a2(A2a3 - A1a3)] 1/a1 where N1 and N2 denote trees per acre at ages A1 and A2. Survival curves for thinned, old-field loblolly pine plantations in Coastal Plain and Piedmont Virginia are given.
