Abstract:

The Metric Conversion Act of 1975 sets no timetable for change to use of metric measurements in the United States. Anticipating a voluntary change, industrial lumber and wood products committees of the American National Metric Council have met several times to consider metrication. The next step for Society of American Foresters members is to agree on what metric units are most suitable, convenient, and necessary for use in forestry.
