Erratic Results from Aerial Spraying of Midsouth Hardwoods

Cull hardwoods were satisfactorily controlled in only one of four experiments with aerially applied herbicides. Spraying was most effective in late spring following high early-spring rainfall. The low-volatile ester of 2,4,5-T was the most effective herbicide tested. Amine salts were less effective than esters, and invert emulsions gave poorer control than conventional oil-water emulsions.
