PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique)--a critical path technique--has become a valuable management tool in both government and industry. But it has not been widely used in resource management, although it is adaptable to many problems. This paper describes how the PERT system works, and shows how it is possible to adapt the techniques as deeply as one's inclinations and analytical devices permit, yet still have a highly useful tool. The pros and cons of PERT summarized.
