Plot or Point Sample Volumes in Even-Aged Stands Using a Computer
Abstract:A method of calculating plot volumes in even-aged stands using either plot or point sampling is outlined. Use is made of sample trees measured for volume. A conditioned regression of volume over diameter squared--the volume-d² line--is calculated. It is shown how the volume, basal area, and number of trees may be calculated by plots or points without the necessity of calculating or looking up the volume or basal area of each tree. Numerical examples are given and a flow chart of the computer program is presented.
