To this author, the problem of the timber supply, like the problems of agriculture, commerce, and government, needs continual looking after, but is not as critical as has been claimed. He points out that we now have enough timber to rebuild the whole United States or to lay a sidewalk to the sun. Furthermore, usable wood is being grown much faster than official figures indicate. Important money is going into the enterprise of growing forests in the well-founded belief that users of wood will be willing to pay enough to cover reasonable production costs.
