Effect of Invisible Decay on Deterioration of Untreated Oak Ties and Posts

Abstract:There has been some question whether the presence of incipient decay in cross ties or other products used in moist situations hastens their rate of decay. The present study indicates that infected wood deteriorates somewhat more rapidly than sound wood when used under similar conditions.
