Range operators and administrators have felt the need for definite data on the amount of time spent by cattle between salting and watering where salt is placed at a considerable distance from water. Since determination of this time interval by observation of the cattle grazing under typical range conditions would require an exorbitant nse of manpower, the possibility of obtaining continuous records by mechanical means has been explored.
