Abstract:

In April of this year, we published The Forest Survey of the South, by I. F. Eldredge, which described how the work was being done in that region. In the present article we have an exposition of the methods developed to meet the needs of the situation in California, where conditions in all their aspects are so different. These two sister articles should prove of interest and value to members of the profession engaged in the same line of work in still other parts of the country.
