Abstract:

A method is presented to characterize theoretical uneven-aged stand structures. The doubly truncated exponential probability density function is used to specify a diameter distribution having a given stand density level. Examples are given where stand density is expressed as basal area or tree-area ratio. The procedure can be extended to other stand density or volume variables that can be expressed in terms of tree diameter. Forest Sci. 28:105-109.
