Abstract:

An electronic micrometer permits nondestructive monitoring and recording of small changes in shoot length. It uses Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs) in a differential measurement configuration to provide a resolution of better than 0.02 mm. Applications include assessment of plant-water relations, plant hormone reactions, and plant-environment interactions. Forest Sci. 27:574-578
