Notes: A Micrometer for Continuous Measurements of Shoot Elongation

An electronic micrometer permits nondestructive monitoring and recording of small changes in shoot length. It uses Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs) in a differential measurement configuration to provide a resolution of better than 0.02 mm.
