abstract = "Yields per unit area can be estimated from diameter frequency predictions. Frequencies are usually predicted for arbitrarily chosen diameter class intervals. Dependence on class intervals may be eliminated by computing yield as the product of the expected volume of a single tree in a given stand times the number of trees per unit area in that stand. Examples of this class-interval-free method for obtaining yields are presented for the cases where the transformed beta and Weibull are assumed to be the population density for tree diameter at breast height.
