During two consecutive growing seasons, height growth of Pinus taeda L. saplings was continuous but varied in rate. Total height growth each year was achieved in a series of flushes that began to elongate after growth rate in the previous flush had peaked. No bud contained more than one flush. Growing season length was correlated with number of flushes. Forest Sci. 17:52-54.
