From 'Bricklaying' to 'Bricolage': Transition and Tourism Development in Central and Eastern Europe
Abstract:This paper aims briefly to review literature on tourism development in Central and Eastern Europe, to highlight major contemporary issues and to indicate future research needs and suggest a research agenda. It does this by addressing the EU enlargement context, conceptions and applications of 'transition', the 'mobility turn' and issues of identity within post-communist processes. It concludes with a proposed research agenda that emphasizes the need to interrogate a number of issues flowing from the policy neglect of tourism within the institutions of the EU.
