Abstract:
In a population of individuals with an identical type and nonoverlapping generations, the number of offspring has a Poisson distribution depending on the carrying capacity K and the total population size. Upper estimates of the mean extinction time Eτ are established and essentially have the form Eτ ≤CecK with some constants C > 0 and c ≍ 0.707.Keywords: carrying capacity; extinction; Poisson distribution
