For a while after September 11, 2001, most Americans lived dual lives, both devastated by the horror and mindful of everyday responsibilities. These papers on terrorism, first presented at the 2002 Annual Conference of the Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences, represent an early attempt to put the events of September 11 and their aftermath in historical and political context, both for ourselves and for our students.
