Art and the Child with Autism: therapy or education?

Abstract:
This article examines some of the factors that contribute to the success of art as a therapeutic tool with children with autism and considers some of the possible reasons why art therapy is not more in evidence in our schools. The article continues by outlining the skills that experienced teachers of children with autism can bring to the therapeutic setting.
