Edgard Varèse and his relationships with Latin American musicians and intellectuals of his time
In this paper, the need to readdress the influence of Latin American music and culture on Edgard Varèse and to view it as significant, rather than superficial, is asserted. This is attempted initially by pointing out several general, though crucial, instances of the said influence; then the friendship and colleagueship that existed between Varèse, Fabini, Carpentier, Roldán and Paz is explored in some detail.
