Reflective Counsellor Education and Supervision: an Epistemological Declaration
Counsellor educators and supervisors encourage counsellors-in-training and supervisees to articulate a philosophy of counseling; yet, less attention has been given to intentional statements of teaching and supervision philosophies. This article illustrates one strategy for educators and supervisors to reflect on, examine, and clarify their fundamental beliefs about counsellor education and supervision. Although this statement is specific to the discipline of counselling, educators in other venues can use the structure for systematic reflection.
