The Expert Witness in England and Wales: The End of the 'Hired Gun'? An English Perspective
The role of the expert witness has seen some significant changes since April 1999 with the introduction of the Civil Procedure Rules 1998 ('CPR'). This paper sets out to explain the role of the expert witness in civil cases in England and Wales and seeks to demonstrate that, to a large extent, the days of the 'hired gun' expert are now dead and gone.
