Fermanagh Shadow Youth Council: Youth Participation in Decision Making
Fermanagh Shadow Youth Council is a group of young people elected in official proportional representation elections in the county's post-primary schools; organised by district council staff, the election involves the use of polling booths and official ballot papers and the final count is held in the town hall. Young unemployed people are trained as presiding officers and, once elected, young shadow councillors meet in the town hall. The remit of the young people is to represent their age group to organisations wishing to consult them on further projects in response to issues raised by voters.
