Abstract:

David Turkon has carried out fieldwork in Lesotho four times since 1987. Prior to joining the residential faculty in anthropology at Glendale Community College in Arizona, he taught as an adjunct at several universities and colleges and worked as an ethnographic consultant. His research interests are with political economy, alternative modernities, HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa, and Sudanese refugees in the U.S.
