Abstract:
The former exile Hans Jacobus has in recent years published collections of essays and poems, many of which, although written half a century after the end of the War, deal with both the period of exile itself as well as with some of the themes common to exile literature. The following study examines biographical aspects and relates these to Jacobus's publications. His most frequent themes are exile, National Socialism and the Holocaust, whereby he focuses in particular on the victims of National Socialism, whose memory he seeks to preserve in the face of a perceived collective German amnesia.Document Type: Research article
