Navigatio et Narratio: Ein Polnischer Landadliger auf Meerfahrt von Danzig Nach Lübeck
Abstract:In his memorable but neglected by scholars work Marcin Borzymowski, a poor Polish landowner and an occasional writer, gives account of his travel on the Baltic sea and his visit to German land. The epic narrative includes more than 5000 verses and contains besides the description of the journey digressions about the trial and death of King Charles I., the Cosack's rebellion in the Polish Far East, and a melodramatic love story. Inspired by Classical and Baroque poetics the travel book combines elements from various genres. The work's hybrid character seizes the opportunity for different readers' response.
