Humanistische Bildungsreise in die Antike Welt: Roland von Waldenburg in Italien (1566-1567)
Abstract:This account of a journey to Italy was written by a young German nobleman from the Lower Rhine who was particularly interested in the remains of classical antiquity and in the inscriptions and sculptures of the Roman Empire. His travelogue is examined with reference to his perception of the foreign attractions and his judgements on classical and Renaissance art and architecture.
