Subjektivität Zwischen Heilsordnung und Weltordnung: Stephans von Gumpenberg Warhafftige Beschreybung der Meerfart (1417/18)
Abstract:Since the High Middle Ages, subjectivity has demonstrably been a central element in travel literature. This claim contradicts current scholarly trends, which are inclined to see the pilgrims' texts of the 14th and 15th centuries as examples of pure literary convention. This article examines Stephans von Gumpenberg Pilgerreise and demonstrates that subjectivity is a constituent feature of the text.
