Abstract:

Taking two discussions as examples, the contribution wants to show that surrealism still influences art and literature today as ,,Hauptgespenst" (Marx / Derrida). Starting from the obsessive presence of the ,,Unheimlich" by Jean Clair, who discovered the invisible hand of surrealism even in the events of September 11, 2001, I will - on the basis of the statements on the ,,Vente Breton" gathered on the website ,,remue. net" of François Bon and on the basis of the discussions around the sale of this collection called ,,refuge contre tout le machinal du monde" with which also surrealism seems to have been sold out and buried - show that surrealism ,,has presented and formed the problem", what Luhmann attested to the whole avant-garde. Even today artists are still faced with the question ,,how to cope with this auto-challenge". Despite or maybe because of the failure of surrealism and its necessity (Bürger), the surrealism still forms today a part of the epoch horizon.
