In the inter-bellum-period avant-garde authors wrote parodies. Those parodies not only were aimed against their immediate predecessors, naturalist and symbolist authors, as Russian formalists put it, but also against other avant-garde authors. Parodies were almost means to characterize a specific group of avantgarde authors. Still, it is hard to decide whether a text is a parody or just a pastiche on the basis of textual characteristics. Decisions in this matter simply can be made by analysing (avant-garde and neo-avant-garde) texts in their historical and poetical context.
