Abstract:

The comic is an important feature in the Futuristic aesthetics with regard to the contents and the style of its literary and artistic expression. Humour, game and satire are of course also represented appropriately in the Futuristic dramaturgy and cinematography. All the comical features of Futuristic literature and arts are already present in the manifestos of this avant-garde. Three kinds of comic phenomena can be distinguished in Futurism: the sense of humour, self-irony and involuntary comicality. The Futurists use humour, irony, caricature etc. like weapons against their enemies, but suffer from the same strategy as well; the avant-gardists then try to integrate these satirical attacks in their programme in order to convert them into a positive publicity.
