Herwarth Walden. Ein Essayist der Moderne
Abstract:This article focuses on Walden's essays as a clear indicator of his modernism and of his avant-garde position in German expressionism. The modern dimension of Walden's works results on the one hand from his progressive understanding of art, literature and European cultural life, and on the other from his innovative impulses, demonstrated in the dialectical form of his essays, which avoid every closed theory and can be seen as a manifesto for experimental writing at the beginning of the twentieth century.
