Abstract:
Postmodern texts are often considered so playful and ironic that there is no real place for the representation of emotions. This would mean that the notion of a postmodern love story must be more or less a contradictio in terminis. This argument is even more convincing if one takes into consideration that the concept of (romantic) love is linked with notions such as authenticity and identity - which are fundamentally called into question in postmodern thinking. In this article it turns out that there are indeed postmodern texts where the representation of love evaporates in the metafictional play. But in particular I show equally that there are literary texts which are undoubtedly postmodern and at the same time love stories in the romantic tradition. The stories of Günter Ohnemus give evidence for this proposition.Document Type: Research article
