Abstract:

Integration of children's services has been proposed as an ideal model for seamless care. Health Act powers allow joint budget management across agencies and primary care trusts facilitate joint working. A model is described in which a complete children's service, including all acute and community elements, transferred to a primary care trust. Management and clinical governance accountability structures are described, and assessment and evaluation criteria proposed to assure safety of the process.
