David Cole reports from the Horticulture Research International Association Workshop on the practicalities of bringing biopesticides to the market. The cost and relevance of approval procedures are the overriding barriers to adoption of biological control agents by growers of minor crops. So concluded a packed Workshop held at the UK's Horticulture Research International Association recently. The meeting considered specifically the British context and the numbers of growers participating was testimony to the potential of such products to assist sustainable growing in the light of withdrawal of chemical actives resulting from EU/UK pesticide reviews.
