Abstract:
Copyright Information Purchasing & Usage: Best Practices of American Corporations looks closely at how American companies buy and use books, directories, CD-ROM and online databases, journals, magazines, and web-based information services. The study looks at the practices of leading American companies and government agencies such as Ford Motor Company, Compaq, AAB, Microsoft, the US Department of State and others. Gives advice on developing digital resources, monitoring information usage, negotiating contracts with information providers, content procurement strategies, internal pricing and other issues.
Chapter focuses on tracking of spending on copyright information, economies of scale and centralization of purchasing, spending for major commercial online services, distance/online learning content, print vs digital, and certain strategies including: licensing, journals purchasing, electronic journals archival, etc., for AAB Global Lummus.
