Abstract:
Copyright Information Purchasing & Usage: Best Practices of American Corporations looks closely at how American companies buy and use books, directories, CD-ROM and online databases, journals, magazines, and web-based information services. The study looks at the practices of leading American companies and government agencies such as Ford Motor Company, Compaq, AAB, Microsoft, the US Department of State and others. Gives advice on developing digital resources, monitoring information usage, negotiating contracts with information providers, content procurement strategies, internal pricing and other issues.
Chapter focuses on pace of shift to digital, digitization of historic collections, print acquisition process, web-accessed databases and internal LAN databases, and CD-ROM options for the Ralph J. Bunche Library.
