Copyright Information Purchasing & Usage: Best Practices of American Corporations looks closely at how American companies buy and use books, directories, CD-ROM and online databases, journals, magazines, and web-based information services. The study looks at the practices of leading American companies and government agencies such as Ford Motor Company, Compaq, AAB, Microsoft, the US Department of State and others. Gives advice on developing digital resources, monitoring information usage, negotiating contracts with information providers, content procurement strategies, internal pricing and other issues.
Chapter focuses on what is happening in the publishing/information industry and how it affects information consumers; information overload and content management; and where corporate information comes from and how much it costs. This chapter also focuses on major issues in contract language for information services.
