Philip McMichael is a Professor of Development Sociology at Cornell University. His publications include New Directions in the Sociology of Global Development (2005, co-editor), Development and Social Change: A Global Perspective (2008), and Contesting Development. Critical Struggles for Social Change (2010, editor). He has worked with the FAO and UNRISD, the International Planning Committee for Food Sovereignty and La Vía Campesina. His current research is on agrarian change, food regimes and the land grab.
