Abstract:
This article describes the development of the Dataverse Network project, which is a set of technological developments that aim to provide authors, journal editors, and others the tools to adopt and effectively implement emergent norms of data sharing and citation. As the replication standard spreads across social scientific and scientific disciplines, the need for ways in which to manage it has become paramount. The article, largely based on documents and previously published descriptions of the Dataverse Network project, demonstrates how the technology responds to the challenges that are posed by the proliferation of electronic data, and how it modifies the incentive structures for users to adopt common usage and citation standards.French Politics (2008) 6, 178-186. doi:10.1057/fp.2008.7Document Type: Research article
