Abstract:

This chapter first reviews the fundamentals of the immunological response to a measles/rubella virus infection and the characteristics of measles/rubella IgM EIA. It then discusses the interpretation of serological results for cases related to vaccination or regarded as being false-positive, and the particular use of rubella serology during pregnancy. Finally, it presents the current state of novel specimens for the serological workup of measles/rubella suspect cases.
