Abstract:
As vaccination progresses into the 21st century, the trend is to expand from the traditional, standard pediatric vaccination to vaccination of all age groups. Adolescents will need booster vaccinations using several antigens to protect them during adult life, as well as new vaccinations against sexually transmitted infections and infections occurring in pregnancy. Adults later in life will need influenza and pneumococcal vaccines, and perhaps vaccination against zoster as well. This is an article from the book Recent Advances in Immunization, 2nd edition, which covers combination vaccines, vaccine safety, influenza control, adolescent and adult immunization, human papillomavirus vaccines, and approaches to introducing new vaccines. Keywords: ADOLESCENT IMMUNIZATION; ADULT IMMUNIZATION; IMMUNIZATION STRATEGIES; INFLUENZA VACCINATION; PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINATION; DIPHTERIA AND TETANUS VACCINATION; MEASLES VACCINATION; MUMPS VACCINATION; RUBELLA VACCINATION; MENINGOCOCCAL VACCINATION; PERTUSIS VACCINATION; YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION; HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS VACCINES; SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS; HERPES ZOSTER
