Abstract:

This article discusses the need of the rotavirus vaccine, departing from the global burden of rotavirus disease. It also includes a brief history of rotavirus vaccines and information about a number of candidate vaccines currently in development. The future directions in the development of rotavirus vaccines and its implications for the Americas are later discussed. This is a chapter included in Vaccines.
