Abstract:
Better Health: A Handbook of Behavior Change is a one-of-a-kind manual for communities to reduce disease, disability, and premature death throughout the life cycle. This chapter of the book discusses the growing importance of adult health, major causes of disability and death in these ages (with emphasis in cardiovascular diseases and tuberculosis) and special issues for women and men. Topics for screening by interview are presented: tobacco uses, eating habits, exercise, alcohol, drugs, sexual practices, health problems in family members and, home safety, among others.
